Universal Resistor Assembly - This resistor, typically seen across the two big power terminals of your contactor (solenoid relay), pre-charges the filter capacitors in the electronic speed controller. This pre-charge minimizes the voltage across the contactor to reduce arcing on the contacts as they close. The resistor can be conneted either way, it's not directional.
